Karen Sarmento is a Nurse Practitioner, Self-Image Architect™, and CEO of Sarmento Mentoring Services LLC. She helps high-achieving women redefine success by bridging neuroscience and mindset with practical strategies for lasting transformation. She is the host of the We Are Meant for More podcast and creator of the Redefine and Rise framework, a proven process that helps women reconnect with their identity, intuition, and inner power.

Q. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ENTREPRENEUR?

I loved my career as a nurse practitioner, but there was a deep knowing that I had a greater purpose. Not only did I have a greater purpose, but I felt my career consumed the best parts of me, leaving only leftover energy for the people in my life who truly matter and very limited time to pursue my actual purpose.

That is what inspired me to take a bold leap and start my own company and eventually step away from my career to pursue my passion. The bold leap wasn’t just about creating freedom for myself, but I knew it would allow me to show other women that they too can step into the life they are meant for.

Q. I’m sure your success has not come easily. What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

Success has definitely not come easy, but it is so worth the ride. Reaching this level of success has helped me grow in more ways than I could begin to even describe. In all honesty, goal setting isn’t actually about the goal, it’s about who you become in the process. The biggest challenge along the way was shedding the adult identity of ‘employee’ and ‘people pleaser’ — roles I had played my entire adult life.

Shifting to the identity of an entrepreneur and CEO of my own company has stretched me outside my comfort zone in more ways than I ever anticipated. Owning my own business has taught me so many things about myself. Every challenge along the way required me to step into a new level of myself. That shift is the same transformation I now help my clients navigate: stepping into the identity of the woman they are called to be.

Whenever fear and doubt crept in (which happened regularly), I would always come back to my “why”. Why am I doing this??? There’s got to be a powerful “why”.

Q. Let’s talk about the work you do. What do you specialize in and why should someone work with you?

I specialize in helping high-achieving women redefine success from the inside out. As a Nurse Practitioner and Self-Image Architect, I blend over 20 years of clinical expertise with the science behind mindset and self-image. I help women transform the way they view themselves so they can step out from behind the mask, release limiting beliefs, and create lives that feel aligned, powerful, and fulfilling. I don’t just teach this material, I live this.

Q. What’s your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success in their life?

My most powerful piece of advice is to listen to that inner voice because you truly have all the answers within. You always did. However, all the noise from the outside world drowns out your inner guidance. If you have a subtle knowing that you are meant for more, that message is meant for you. It’s incredibly important to know what you want and have a goal. Take the first step and each additional step will be delivered along the way.

Q. What is the most important lesson you learned as an entrepreneur?

I learned that I must have a powerful “why” and never give up. I am always willing to reevaluate the plan. When one strategy doesn’t go as planned I am not afraid to try something else. Persistence is key.

Q. Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me means living life by design and on purpose. It means I live in alignment with who I truly am and the values that guide me. It’s about removing the mask, being authentic, and creating a life that feels deeply fulfilling. For me, success also means showing up as the best version of myself every day, always growing, learning, and being fully present for my family and the people who matter most.

Q. Who inspires you every day?

My son inspires me every single day. At the base of everything he is my why. But beyond that, he is an example of resilience, persistence, and showing up even when it’s hard.

Q. What’s next for you?

What’s next for me is listening to my inner voice and forward movement. I will be expanding the impact of my work through workshops, speaking engagements, and my programs so I can continue helping more women step into the lives they’re meant for. I will continue to take action when and where I feel called to do so. I will never stop learning and growing.

Q. Finally, how can people connect with you if they want to learn more?

I love to hear from other women with thoughts, questions or even simple ‘aha’ moments. I welcome that every day. You can reach me directly at contact@karensarmento.com, or book a complimentary call through my calendar link. I also host free monthly workshops where women can experience this work firsthand. And of course, you’ll find me sharing insights on Instagram and Facebook.
