Sales Confidence for Women: You’re Not Bad at Selling, You Just Haven’t Found Your Voice Yet
You’re not bad at selling
If you’ve ever felt confident in your work but wobbly when you try to promote it, you’re not alone!
Many women in business spend years perfecting their craft. Only to freeze, ramble, or downplay their offer the moment they have to sell it. We whisper prices, soften our pitch, or over-explain ourselves out of the sale. Sometimes we’re not even sure what to say at all.
This isn’t because we’re not confident people. It’s because we’ve never been shown how to sell in a way that feels real, clear, and unapologetically us.
This article is for the women who think they’re bad at sales. You’re not. You just haven’t found your voice yet. I don’t mean sounding like someone else, or your favourite coach or influence, YOUR voice.
For many of us, “selling” sounds like something you have to perform. We’ve been taught that success comes from being likeable but not too much. Confident but not direct. Polished, but never pushy. So we freeze. Or ramble. Or quietly post and hope someone clicks the link. And when no one buys? We tell ourselves we must not be good enough.
You don’t need to perform to be good at selling
Here’s what I tell my clients. You don’t have to be louder. You just need to be clearer and sell for a position of purpose and passion. Sales confidence for women isn’t about pretending. It’s about connection. Not just connection with a potential client but connection to our purpose. Sometimes, amidst the everyday chaos of running a business, we forget why we started and get disconnected from that burning passion that had us start up in the first place.
Only today I was working with a client who was beyond relieved when I reassured her that to sell, she didn’t need to be loud and energetic with big hand gestures, cheesy phrases and buzz words. People know when you are trying to perform and not behaving in a natural way. They feel it and it breaks down trust. Her own calm, considered & authoritative tone is just perfect, because it’s HER being herself.
Your voice is your most powerful sales tool
Sales confidence for women starts by shifting how we speak about our work. Not louder. Not faster. Just better and with full belief.
Here’s what changes when your voice matches your value:
– Your reels sound like leadership, not a guessing game
– Your masterclass doesn’t spiral during the pitch
– You stop trailing off at the price
– People don’t just see your offer, they feel the clarity and passion behind it
Your voice is your most powerful sales tool. It doesn’t need to be perfect. It needs to be real, practiced, and grounded in belief. It needs to sound like you.
People need what you have, believe it
If you’re sitting on an incredible offer but whispering your way through the pitch… If your voice wobbles every time someone says “How much is it?”… You don’t need another strategy. You need to speak it like it matters, because it does. Let’s be clear, sales confidence isn’t a gift. It’s a skill. And you can learn it!
You don’t need a bigger following. You need a stronger voice. You don’t need to be more “salesy”. You need to believe in yourself when you pitch.
And when you do? They will too.
And remember, it’s not about you; make it all about them. If you can do one thing from today, shift your focus from what you have, to why they need it. You’ll feel that conviction & confidence start to simmer…
