More Than Flying: A Young Woman’s Journey Into Drone Aviation

Young professional drone pilot working in aviation, security and defence

At just 22 years old, I never imagined that my career would lead me into one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, drone aviation.

Today, I work as a professional drone pilot in the security and defence sector, operating advanced unmanned aircraft to support surveillance, safety, and critical operations.

Like many women entering aviation, I stepped into a field where female representation is still growing.

There were moments of uncertainty, steep learning curves, and challenges that tested my confidence. But every obstacle reinforced one important lesson: your background does not determine your future, your determination does.

One of the greatest rewards of my career has been showing others, especially young women, that aviation is about far more than flying traditional aircraft.

Drone technology is transforming industries such as security, emergency response, agriculture, conservation, infrastructure inspection, and filmmaking.

There are countless opportunities waiting for people who are willing to learn and embrace innovation.

Beyond flying, I have developed a passion for educating others about drones and aviation.

Whether through speaking engagements, interviews, or simply sharing my experiences, I hope to make this industry feel more accessible to those who may never have considered it as a career.

Representation matters. When young girls see women confidently working in aviation, they begin to believe they can do it too.

Aviation has taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of continuous learning. Technology evolves rapidly, and staying relevant means constantly improving your skills.

That mindset has shaped not only my career but also my outlook on life.

To every young woman considering a career in aviation: don’t let fear convince you that you don’t belong.

There will always be challenges, but there is also incredible opportunity.

1. Be curious, ask questions, seek mentors, and never underestimate your own potential.

I believe the future of aviation will be shaped by diverse perspectives, innovative thinking, and people who are passionate about making a difference.

I am proud to be part of that future and excited to see more women take their place in our skies.
