Women making herstory

Women Empowerment- How Can Women Make History

What is the most critical thing we can do to empower women?

Women’s empowerment has become a huge topic of interest and a key factor in the development of gender equality and business sustainability across our communities worldwide.

How can women make history? I believe, one of the key factors that we as women can practice is supporting each other in the world of entrepreneurship, connecting with and collaborating with other females who might complement what we do in our businesses. When we raise each other up, every female benefits, and by building each other’s businesses we can significantly increase the impact females can make in the world of entrepreneurship.

What steps can women take to empower each other?

Empowering women has been a significant focus for many years now, and there is no doubt that women have made great strides in various fields. However, there is still a long way to go to reach full gender equality, and women must continue to push for change and not just create history, but create a legacy that is in alignment with their values and in the integrity of what a woman stands for.

We have had to sacrifice our health, well-being, and womanhood too often for our seat at the table. By becoming the change we want to see we can break up with the conditioning that history has put on us by breaking down the systemic barriers that have prevented us from achieving our full potential. We can reclaim our voice and ask for opportunities and inclusivity in all aspects of life.  We become history by inspiring other women to do the same, to walk alongside us by being role models, supporting and mentoring other women, and sharing their stories of success and overcoming obstacles.

As women, we can help build true connections, nurturing networks, and supportive communities.  By using our voices and platforms to create change, women can make a lasting impact on society and pave the way for future generations of women. We leave a legacy behind for those who walk behind us and those yet to come.

How can women use their voices to make an impact?

Years ago women were not allowed to have a voice. They couldn’t vote, be active in politics, run their own business, be CEOs, or even take part in sporting events. They weren’t heard, were invisible, and had no power. Times have changed and right now Women DO HAVE a voice.  But… they’re often afraid to use it.

They don’t feel good enough, they lack confidence, and they question if what they want to say really matters and if can make a difference. It does. So how women can use their voice to make an impact:   Share your story. Whatever is personal is universal. Whatever you’ve been going through, good or bad. Oftentimes women suffer quietly, feeling scared, ashamed, messed up, and broken, thinking there’s something wrong with them. And listening to or reading the story of other women, who had a similar experience can actually help, be that sparkle to make a change.

Be a speaker. Host your own events – online or offline, have a podcast and be a guest on other platforms. Share your story, teach and educate, and empower other women how they can be, do, and have anything they want to. Be the voice they can resonate with, follow and make a change in their life.  Contribute. As Tony Robbins says “The secret to living is giving”. Give back. Help the ones in need, use your voice to help the ones, who can’t have that voice, make a difference, show them how to overcome difficulties, how to keep going, and help them see the light at the end of the tunnel. Be the light. You can. Use it.

As a woman, what does making history look like for you?

Years ago if I was asked this question, I’d probably have thought that I would need to accomplish something world-changing, some huge accomplishment recognized by the most influential people in the world. Today I know that history is made by women everywhere, every day who decide to serve others with empathy and integrity.

For me, making history happens when I show up as my authentic self; it happens when I own my story, all of it, and use it to inspire, encourage and empower others to LEAD (Live Everyday Above Defeat) through adversity. History is made when I raise my voice as a catalyst for change, growth, and transformation in the lives of the women I am called to serve.

Each woman has an opportunity to make history through her choices. We can choose to stay silent on issues that affect women in our communities, country, and throughout the globe or we can choose to use our influence to advocate on behalf of women who cannot speak or fight for themselves. Each of us has a hurt to heal in this world, our job is to discover what that is and begin walking in our purpose to make woman healthy, healed, and whole through our God-given gifts, experiences, and wisdom.

Why is it important to find your tribe?

Every day women strive to close the gender gap. Historically this meant having to prove themselves and working twice as hard as their male counterparts to gain respect. The result was a competitive atmosphere where women felt threatened by other women.  Women have since discovered there is room at the table for other women. There is power in numbers and having a tribe.

When women invest in young girls and other women, they create a pipeline of intelligent women who are positioned to smash the glass ceiling with innovative thinking, groundbreaking work, and fearless leadership.    While women who change the world have several common traits, two of the most important are:   They never compete with other women.  They are open to being coached and mentored by women and being a coach and mentor for other women.

As women, the BEST gift we can give ourselves is the gift of other women. When we commit to learning from, growing, and supporting other women, we open the doors to innovation, opportunities, collaboration, friendships, and a supportive network. We create a sisterhood of inspiration, encouragement, and cheerleaders who support one another to be the best version of themselves they can possibly be. FIND YOUR TRIBE!
