This Is What Radical Self-Care Actually Looks Like – And It Saved My Life
I used to think self-care meant face masks and massages. I was dead wrong.
For decades, I played by the corporate rulebook – suppressing emotions, rejecting my feminine nature, and believing that stepping into feminine energy meant weakness. I carried cases of beer up three flights of stairs in college just to prove I was “as good as the guys”. I cursed, memorized sports stats, and wore masculinity like armor in boardrooms where I hit glass ceiling after glass ceiling.
Sound familiar? Maybe you’ve also felt like you had to amputate parts of yourself to succeed in a world that wasn’t designed for your authentic power.
What I didn’t realize was that this wasn’t just career strategy—it was self-abandonment. I thought I was climbing the ladder—but I was slowly climbing away from myself. And my body carried the cost.
When Your Body Declares War on Self-Betrayal
In 2018, during a routine gynecological exam, I got the wake-up call that would revolutionize everything I thought I knew about wellness. Abnormal pap smear. Cervical dysplasia. Possible cancer – right in my womb space, the seat of my feminine creative power.
My first reaction? “What’s the big deal? Just take it out. I’m done having kids anyway.”
Talk about emotionally disconnected. I was ready to discard my most sacred feminine organ like it was defective equipment. This is what decades of self-rejection had done to me.
But here’s where radical wellness began – not in a spa, but in the terrifying space between diagnosis and procedure where I finally had to face what I’d been running from my entire adult life.
Radical Wellness: The Real Revolution
Traditional self-care says: Take a bath, light a candle, treat yourself.
Radical wellness says: Face what you’ve been avoiding, heal what you’ve been rejecting, and reclaim the parts of yourself you’ve been taught to abandon.
Between that doctor’s visit and my hospital procedure, I embarked on what I now call my Soul Intelligence® journey. Here’s what radical self-care actually looked like:
The Revolutionary Roadmap I Followed:
Radical Act #1: I Went Within – No Apps, No Gurus. I meditated daily, but not the Instagram-pretty kind. I sat with discomfort and asked my body what it desperately needed to tell me. I prayed – messy, desperate, real prayers.
Radical Act #2: I Sought Wisdom Beyond Western Medicine. While respecting medical guidance, I also worked with energy healers who saw beyond symptoms to root causes. When one healer told me to “embrace my feminine side”, I didn’t dismiss it as woo-woo nonsense. I got curious.
Radical Act #3: I Reclaimed My Feminine Heritage. I researched goddesses, queens, and female leaders who wielded feminine power as strength, not weakness. Isis, Sekhmet, Joan of Arc – these weren’t submissive figures. They were fierce warriors who understood that tears aren’t weakness – they’re holy water releasing trapped emotion.
Radical Act #4: I Moved Energy in My Body. Yes, I danced. To activate my sacral chakra where the diseased cells were living. I pushed through feeling ridiculous because healing my relationship with my feminine body was more important than my ego.
Radical Act #5: I Transformed My Environment. I switched from high-vibration masculine frankincense to feminine rose essential oil. I listened to high-vibrational music. Every detail mattered because I was creating an environment that supported my wholeness, not my fragmentation.
Radical Act #6: I Reprogrammed My Cellular Reality Every morning and night, I visualized healthy cells. Not as positive thinking, but as cellular communication. I was literally talking to my body like the intelligent system it is.
The Miraculous Becomes Normal When You Align
During this journey, I accessed what I now call my Soul Intelligence® – that profound inner knowing that transcends medical textbooks and cultural conditioning. I understood the energetic truth: I had rejected myself as a woman so completely that the dis-ease manifested in my most feminine space.
When I went in for the procedure, my doctor’s face said everything. The abnormal cells had completely disappeared. She stammered something about having “cut all the bad cells out” during the procedure.
But I knew better. We had addressed the issue on every level – mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, and energetic. That’s what radical wellness looks like. Not one thing. Everything. Integrated. Holistic. Revolutionary.
Redefining Self-Care for Women Who Are Done Playing Small
This experience shattered my understanding of what it means to care for myself. Radical wellness isn’t about adding more to-do items to your self-care list. It’s about:
Listening to your body’s intelligence instead of overriding it
Honoring both your masculine and feminine energy instead of rejecting either
Addressing root causes instead of managing symptoms
Trusting your inner knowing as much as external expertise
Healing fragmentation instead of accepting it as normal
True self-care means asking: What parts of myself have I abandoned to fit in? What is my body trying to tell me? How can I honor my wholeness in a world that profits from my fragmentation?
Your Body Is Your Greatest Teacher
Maybe your wake-up call won’t be cervical dysplasia (https://www.healthline.com/health/cervical-dysplasia) . Maybe it’s chronic fatigue, anxiety, or that persistent feeling that you’re living someone else’s life. Your body is speaking. Your soul is calling.
Radical wellness means listening.
When you step into your Soul Intelligence® fully – when you stop rejecting parts of yourself and start integrating your magnificent wholeness – there is truly nothing you can’t heal, create, or become. It’s not magic. It’s remembering who you really are.
