My entrepreneurial journey didn’t begin online. Long before coaching programmes, courses, and conferences, I ran brick-and-mortar businesses. In that world, collaboration wasn’t a trendy concept or a marketing hook – it was survival.
You shared contacts because it made sense. You referred clients because you understood long-term value. You built ecosystems because your reputation and relationships were your real currency. One conversation had the power to change the whole trajectory of your business.
So when I eventually entered the online space, I naively believed in the hashtags.
Women supporting women. Collaboration over competition. Your vibe attracts your tribe. What I found instead surprised me.
Behind the marketing speech was scarcity. Guardedness. Suspicion. Women competing for clients and visibility, rather than building alongside one another. I once invested £10,000 in a business mentor who wouldn’t even share the name of her VA – despite positioning her offer as an “inner circle” and a shortcut to success.
It was a sharp contrast to the principles I’d built my career on: reciprocity, openness, and long-term relationship building. That moment made me wonder – why do women struggle so much to support each other in business?
I realised, it isn’t because they’re competitive. It’s because most came up in the boss babe era, where your only route to success was by out-hustling those around you. Women also didn’t typically grow up with female entrepreneurial role models who showed them, what it looks like to create in collaboration.
And the reality is, that historically there have been limited opportunities available to women. Thankfully we no longer live in those times, and the real opportunity for growth for us, is to recognise our triggers, heal past sister wounds and work together rather than alone.
The economic implications of this are also enormous. Closing the gender gap in business could add £260 billion to the UK economy alone if women built at the same rate as men. That isn’t a mindset problem. It’s an economic one. And when women hold wealth, the ripple effect is undeniable – communities are lifted, ethical causes are funded, and future generations benefit.
So, my advice to women who want to accelerate their business growth in 2026, is recognising that the business landscape is changing rapidly. AI, automation, and content saturation are creating more noise than ever before. In that environment, what stands out isn’t volume – it’s what cannot be replicated: trust, creativity, genuine connection, originality, integrity-based marketing, and collaboration.
This is where most women miss the point – Trust transfers.
When you collaborate with someone who already has the attention of your ideal client, credibility comes with you. The relationship has already been built. The safety already exists. As a result, conversions happen faster – not because you shouted louder, but because you arrived recommended.
The key however, is strategic collaboration, not random partnerships:
- Work with the women who already have your ideal client’s attention.
- That serve that client in a different way to you.
- Ensuring that there’s no crossover or competition – just shared values and aligned audiences.
This approach bypasses algorithms entirely and brings you back to the heart of business: being paid for meaningful work, being seen by the right people, and being heard without burning yourself out.
At our core, we are still tribal beings. We are not designed to create in isolation. There are parts of our leadership, creativity, and confidence that only unlock in proximity to women who truly understand the journey. The women who grasp this in 2026 won’t just grow sales – they’ll also redefine how success is built for the generations to come.
