REWIRE YOUR PERSONAL GROWTH “Don’t go through life, grow through life.” – Eric Butterworth
If you are not valued as a person, you are less valued as a professional. At the moment, there’s a lot of talk about Skills Passports, gaining qualifications and climbing the career ladder. Personal growth is the self-development of personality, perspective, and outlook towards life. It is an ongoing process of emotional, mental, social and spiritual growth by doing things that improve you and the world around you. This process needs to be person-centred and led by you.
- Be selfish and think about yourself, your future and your career –
How To Begin Your Journey of Personal Development? The first thing to do is to get a deeper awareness of yourself. From there, you need to understand your motivations, blockers, and set meaningful goals. As an expert mentor, I help clients through the above journey and, when working with the 5D framework to triangulate mindsets and methods, to create success.
- Discover: Here I spend time getting to know you, building trust and aligning expectations.
- Desire: Then we try to understand what your desire is.
- Determine: We next determine what’s holding you back and what we must do about it.
- Deliver: Then, in the time between sessions, you deliver against the plan.
- Delight and Deliberate: Finally, we celebrate success while deliberating over what worked and what didn’t, and what to do further.
Stay in alignment with your greatness, not in trying to ‘be’ greater.
Personal growth often requires a shift in mindset
Looking at personal growth as a removal process is a big mindset shift. It isn’t enough to think about it or try to practice it, you have to shift the thinking you have around growth and around who you are. If you have a belief that you aren’t good enough, that you don’t stack up to others, that you are somehow missing some important skill or trait to achieve success, you are operating from a mindset that requires you to be or do more to have personal growth. But when you truly believe that you are already enough, that you were born with unique strengths, gifts & wisdom, and that you can embrace all of who you are, then personal growth becomes about staying in alignment with your greatness, not in trying to ‘be’ greater. Mindset is a tricky beast. Shifting mindset is about rewiring our brains, minds, and bodies for personal growth & development as an enrichment process. See how amazing this mindset shift really is? It transforms every aspect of our lives to be in joy and aliveness.
Setting the Stage for Self-Improvement and Future Enhancement – Improved Motivation. The first step in this rewarding process is to acknowledge the need for change and growth. The act of self-improvement is proactive and intentional; it requires commitment and the understanding that personal development is a continuous pursuit. … frustration with your current life is a red flag that signals a need for personal development of some sort – a sign that your inward and outward journeys are misaligned and something isn’t adding up. The decision to actively engage in personal development is empowering. It means taking control of your life, shaping your future, and finding your path to success and happiness.
Assessing Your Current State
Before you start mapping out your future, it’s crucial to understand where you currently stand in life. Developing yourself is your job. It’s your commitment to your future self and must continue even if no one else cares. Ask yourself tough questions, and be honest with your answers. Are your habits and actions aligning with your long-term aspirations? Are there areas of your life that you’re neglecting? Reflecting on your current state helps in identifying strengths to build upon weaknesses.
Setting Clear Objectives
Clarity is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of personal development. Without clear objectives, your efforts can become scattered, leading to frustration and burnout. Start with defining your long-term visions and then break them down into smaller, achievable goals. Not all habits that serve you well today will continue to serve you in time to come. So, it’s important to evolve your habits as you evolve.
Sort What isn’t Serving you from what is Serving You
Before we can remove what no longer serves us or do less, we need to discern what matters from what doesn’t. This can be as simple as getting out a clean piece of paper and making two columns: what serves you and what doesn’t. You can start scanning your life and work to know what is depleting you. Your body is so wise and often even when your mind tries to cover up your feelings, your body provides you with the truth.
Health and Wellness
Your physical and mental well-being are the cornerstones of a successful and fulfilling life. Incorporating regular exercise, maintaining a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep are the basics of physical health. However, practicing mindfulness, meditation, and seeking therapy when needed are equally important for your mental health.
Development of the self is not just about the intellect or knowledge but about physical and emotional aspects of our being. Personal development is a lifelong pursuit that has the power to transform every facet of your life. By setting clear objectives, continuously developing your skills, nurturing relationships, prioritizing your health, and managing your finances wisely, you can make your future better. Remember, the key to a better future lies within you, and every step you take brings you closer to the life you envision for yourself.
