As a CEO of a 6-figure marketing agency and now a coaching business, I know only too well how limiting beliefs can hold you back from shining your sparkle on what you do and allowing yourself to progress.
What is a limiting belief?
They are often beliefs that you believe to be true but often prevent you from moving forward and growing. They can keep you stuck in a negative state of mind and stop you from reaching any desire. What you believe about yourself and the world around you shapes your reality. It impacts what you do and what you are able to achieve such as being able to reach the goals that you set yourself.
Have you ever thought in your business I am so excited to be doing this work, I am so grateful, and like a tonne of bricks it hits you, ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘I’m always unlucky when it comes to success and money’ or ‘who do I think I am to be achieving this success.’
The thing is we ALL have limiting beliefs, it’s how and what we do to move past them that is key.
5 Easy Ways That You Can Start To Overcome Limiting Beliefs
1. Identify your goal and what your limiting belief is.
Really hone in on what your limiting belief tells you. Is it inner dialogue or is it a feeling you have?
2. Question and challenge your limiting belief.
Try to identify what the positive intention is of your limiting belief, for example, it might be trying to keep you safe rather than holding you back.
3. Consider the consequences of your limiting belief.
What will happen if you are not able to change this belief? How will this make you feel?
4. Choose a new positive and empowering belief.
You must now choose a new empowering belief to adopt that you would like to use moving forward and how you will apply this. Ensure this belief is believable for you and will support you in moving forward.
5. Consistently apply this new belief to your life daily.
Ensure you now apply this belief to your life every single day. Find different ways of doing this, for example, visualization or daily affirmations if this works for you.
Following these steps will allow you to acknowledge what is holding you back and you can do some deeper work on where it is coming from. When you implement these steps, it will allow you to move towards achieving the goals you have set out for yourself and your business.
As a CEO, we are still human beings and often have limiting beliefs because we care and want to succeed. Quite often it’s the high achievers that have limiting beliefs more than others.
