Built To Lead: My Journey From Real Estate To Miss Universe Canada

Women redefining leadership and beauty

My name is Ann Fiocociello. I’m a successful real estate developer, an advocate for mental health, and a Miss Universe Canada 2025 National Delegate. On paper, those roles might seem worlds apart, but together they tell a story about the duality of strength—and how women today are redefining what leadership and beauty truly mean.

Foundations Built on Grit

My career began not on stage, but on construction sites. I entered the real estate industry with a vision to create homes and beautiful spaces. As a young woman in a male-dominated field, I quickly had to develop a sense of self-worth that didn’t rely on external validation. I learned how to command a room, manage risk, and negotiate with confidence. I learned that success isn’t just about building structures—it’s about building yourself.

Those early years taught me resilience, focus, and how to dream big even when the odds were stacked against me.

Stepping into the Spotlight

I never imagined that my path would lead to the Miss Universe Canada stage. But I’ve always believed that we grow the most when we step outside our comfort zones. Competing isn’t about beauty standards—it’s about using a global platform to expand my message and make a difference.

Pageantry, to me, is about advocacy. It’s about showing women and girls that they can lead with intelligence and heart. It’s about having the courage to speak up—for yourself, and for others.

Every delegate is more than what you see on stage. We are entrepreneurs, students, healthcare workers, artists, and leaders. We are united by a desire to make our voices heard and to uplift the voices of others along the way.

Business Meets Purpose

People often ask how I balance the worlds of business and pageantry—but to me, they’re deeply connected. Both require vision, strategy, and the ability to lead with authenticity. In real estate, I’m creating spaces for people to thrive. In pageantry, I’m creating space for dialogue, connection, and impact.

Whether I’m purchasing a development project or preparing for the Miss Universe Canada finals, I carry the same message: You are allowed to be all of who you are.

Redefining Empowerment in 2025

In 2025, empowerment means showing up fully. It means leading with compassion and not apologizing for your ambition. It means knowing your worth, setting boundaries, and embracing the many roles you play without diminishing any of them.

I don’t believe women should have to choose between business and beauty, or leadership and softness. We are multidimensional. And our greatest power lies in embracing all parts of who we are.

Mental Health Is Part of the Mission

My humanitarian project centers around my partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association. As women, we’re often told to be everything for everyone—but rarely given space to prioritize our own well-being. Mental health still carries stigma, especially in high-achieving environments, and I want to help break that cycle.

Through fundraisers, awareness campaigns, and personal storytelling, I’ve helped raise thousands of dollars to support CMHA initiatives. But more importantly, I’ve opened doors for real conversations—about burnout, trauma, healing, and what it means to actually thrive.

A Note to Women Everywhere

If you’ve ever felt like you had to choose—between being strong and being soft, between your goals and your truth—I’m here to tell you: You don’t. You were never meant to shrink. You were born to expand.

You deserve to take up space in every room you walk into. And if that room doesn’t exist yet? Build it.
