Ditch the New Year’s Resolution – Set a Soul Goal
Did you know, the average New Year’s Resolution lasts only 36 days and most people abandon their resolutions in the first week of the new year. This is why my enthusiasm for New Year’s Resolutions is a thing of the past.
Instead, I prefer to set a soul goal.
A soul goal is about you at a holistic level. It is about creating a goal that helps you to form a deeper connection with your innermost self and that supports you in your life’s journey. It is about who you want to be and how you want to feel and less about a specific action or outcome that you are looking to achieve.
Let’s take a typical New Year’s resolution and transform it into a soul goal.
You want to lose 10 pounds (because who doesn’t have 10 extra pounds that they are happy to part with). To support this resolution you may start working out and eating better but one day you devour that chocolate cake, feel like a failure and give up on your resolution.
Now let’s shift the idea of shedding pounds to be more holistic and better reflect a feeling that you want more of in our lives.
Your soul goal could be to live in an abundance of health and wellness.
Sounds pretty good right?
Instead of just focusing on moving a number on a scale you are focused on your health and wellness expanding, improving and becoming your lifestyle.
To support your soal goal, create a list of actions that you can take to support this intention each and every month. Maybe in January you focus on going for a walk each day. In February you learn to prepare 1- 2 healthier food options. In March you try yoga and so on and so forth.
By the end of the year you will be able to piece together all of your individual monthly and actions to see how they supported your soul goal.
Sounds so much better and is far easier to achieve, right?
The best part is this soul goal becomes a focal point or anchor that shifts your mindset and your actions towards what you wish to bring more into your life slowly and easily versus one big quick fix that may or may not stick.
Are you ready to write your soul goal for the year?
