Are You Stuck In A Rut
I know what it’s like to get in your way and reduce your potential to flourish in various aspects of life. You may feel like there’s no amount of hard work you can put into silencing limiting beliefs regarding your job, personal life, or self-care. But with minor changes and a positive mind frame, you’d be surprised how quickly you can reverse course and achieve success in all aspects of your life.
How can you overcome self-sabotaging and self-limiting beliefs?
I’ll give you some advice on how to get out of your way and begin a journey toward improving your self-worth to put yourself in the best position for personal growth and professional success starting today.
1. Start With Self Reflection
Self-reflection is the first step when you feel like you may be self-sabotaging. Let’s face it; we can’t change behavior that we’re unaware is happening.
What are some common signs you’re not allowing yourself to reach your full potential? Self-sabotaging patterns include:
- Postponing or canceling social and professional obligations.
- Treating people around you disrespectfully.
- Not challenging yourself physically and emotionally.
If you notice yourself having negative thoughts or toxic habits, the first question you must ask is why? Reflect on if you’re self-sabotaging or practicing self-limiting beliefs. If you catch yourself doing either, awareness is the first step toward making positive changes.
My Get Up & LEAD 90 Guided Journal is a great tool to help with daily reflection, setting intentions, and guided journaling to help you gain clarity and recognize when your thoughts and behaviors aren’t putting you in a position for success.
2. Stop Self-Sabotage in its Tracks
One thing I strive for when helping people find success through coaching and education is to help guide them through unproductive thoughts and actions so they can blossom as a person.
An expected behavioral problem I notice time and again is self-sabotage. It can manifest in numerous ways with many root causes, but at the end of the day, we need to look at self-sabotage head-on and stop in its tracks in any way possible.
So how can you stop self-sabotage? The most important thing is that you realize you’re doing it and take the necessary steps toward preventing it. Some ways to change your thoughts to positive and productive ones are:
- Start slowly and address one issue at a time using a reasonable timeframe.
- Document your progress to keep track of what triggers your negative beliefs and actions.
- Schedule a consultation with a counselor to help create and work through your plan.
Stopping self-sabotage as soon as possible will help you focus on how you need to change and become more successful.
3. Acknowledge and Change Self-Limiting Beliefs
Once you acknowledge counterproductive behavior and destructive patterns like self-limiting beliefs, it’s time to make changes. While it may sound easier said than done, my goal is to help people become their most productive and profitable selves. It starts by believing you can do more than ever before and challenging yourself to reach new heights personally and professionally.
So how can you change self-limiting beliefs?
- When an unhealthy thought enters your mind, ask yourself why you feel that way.
- Once you acknowledge a negative thought, replace it with a positive one.
- Develop a slogan that helps you recognize and silence self-limiting beliefs, like “not today.”
Creating an action plan and developing techniques that work will allow you to replace self-limiting beliefs with productive thoughts that will help you at work and home.
4. Surround Yourself With a Support Team
I’m a big believer in keeping people around you who care about you and want to see you grow. One of the most crucial questions to ask yourself is if you’re surrounding yourself with the right people and that they aren’t contributing to limiting beliefs or self-sabotage.
Make sure others aren’t blocking your path to thriving as a person. Any toxic relationships you have may need to come to a close if you want to put yourself on track for more success and happiness.
5. Focus on All Aspects of Self Care
Lastly, if you’re addressing behavior that’s a roadblock to your personal and professional growth, you must tailor every aspect of your life to promote a more successful you. One of the best places to begin is with your physical health.
Exercise, eat well, drink less, and take care of yourself. Paying attention to your body can help wake up your mind so you stop limiting your overall health and wellness. Taking care of your physical health will give you more confidence and strength so you’re ready to be your best self.
