Embrace Your Body’s Wisdom: A Journey to Vibrant Wellness

What does vibrant wellness feel like? I can tell you what it doesn’t feel like. It’s not waking up to your alarm, struggling to open your eyes, and groggily reaching to turn it off. It’s not the sudden rush of memories from yesterday—the exhaustion that limited your activities, the persistent pain that screamed at your central nervous system, and the frustration of not being able to do what you wanted. As you turn off the alarm, those sensations flood back, reminding you that this isn’t the life you envisioned. Despite trying various solutions and advice, you still find yourself back at square one, feeling like you’ve found no answers to your struggles.

You’re a woman with a big dream, a significant goal you want to achieve. You have a clear vision of how you want to show up for yourself, your family, your business, and your coworkers. But it’s incredibly challenging to pursue this dream when your body is weighed down by fatigue and pain, leaving you frustrated and blocked by your symptoms. You’re not alone, my friend.

It’s surprising how many people experience the same struggles, yet they still go to work, power through, and hope for a better tomorrow. You encounter them every day—at work, on the phone, at the grocery store. They are your waitress, your boss, and they are you. But this doesn’t have to be your story forever. Let me share some powerful and simple strategies to support yourself.

Embrace the Power of Vibrant Wellness

  1. Practice Being in Your Body:

What does that mean? For someone experiencing fatigue, pain, and constant symptoms, it’s easy to ignore, silence, or block out your body’s signals. Being present with your symptoms isn’t pleasant, but these symptoms are your body’s way of crying for help. Imagine a child trying to get his mother’s attention. He gently taps her arm and stands quietly, waiting for her to notice. When she doesn’t, he taps harder, stands closer, and might make small noises or move into her line of sight. If she still doesn’t respond, he grabs her sleeve and pulls, saying, “Mom, Mom, Mom.” She might glance at him and say, “One minute, please.”

In desperation, he walks directly in front of her, grabs both her hands, and says, “Mom, I need you.” When your body needs help, it sends messages through symptoms. Just like the child, your body has something important to communicate. It works hard to support you, but when its systems become overloaded and imbalanced, it starts asking for help—first quietly, then loudly.

When your body uses symptoms to communicate, it’s an act of love and self-preservation, doing its best to get your attention. It’s urging you to investigate what’s going wrong and how you can help. I encourage you to be present in your body, give yourself permission to sit and notice the symptoms you’re experiencing, and ask what they are trying to tell you. This might feel strange at first, but trust me, your body has a lot to say. If simply sitting with your body and noticing its messages feels too confusing to do alone, please find a practitioner who resonates with you to work through this together.

Forgiveness: A Key to Vibrant Wellness

  1. Forgive yourself for past mistakes.

Forgive yourself for not always listening to your body’s signals, whether it was telling you that something wasn’t right for you, that a relationship was harmful, that it was time to leave a job, or that an opportunity was perfect for you but you didn’t pursue it out of fear. Forgive yourself for these past mistakes. Forgive your body for everything it has endured and put you through.

Fully forgive your body and extend that forgiveness to anyone who has wronged, harmed, or hurt you. Forgiveness is a powerful tool for recovery. We are often taught to forgive others, and you may have practiced this frequently. But have you forgiven yourself? Have you forgiven your body for where you are right now?

Uncovering the Causes of Symptoms

  1. Understanding that the symptoms in your body have a reason is crucial.

There’s always something prompting those symptoms, and it’s not just a disease name or diagnosis. It’s something inside your body, often a multitude of factors, causing your symptoms. It takes courage and patience to uncover these causes. Using the two directives I’ve shared, you can make significant progress. However, you might still feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about what to do next. I highly recommend researching practitioners you feel aligned with to help you uncover and address these causes sustainably, creating space for your body and whole self to recover fully.

Moving Toward Vibrant Wellness

As someone who has recovered from debilitating multiple sclerosis, I understand this journey can be long, confusing, and seemingly hopeless at times. But one of the most rewarding experiences of my life has been the privilege of walking the path of both illness and recovery. It has become one of my greatest blessings. Without experiencing severe illness and the journey to full recovery, I wouldn’t know how to guide and support my clients in their own recovery. Because of my journey, I am now an applied functional medicine practitioner, specializing in helping people unravel the causes of their illness and address them sustainably, creating space for recovery. This is my passion and my purpose.

In Conclusion: Trusting Your Body’s Wisdom

In conclusion, you are the queen of your life journey. Your body already has every tool needed for you to be fully well, balanced, and vibrant. How will you choose today to take one step closer to your vibrant wellness?
